Virginia Allocates $122 Million in Federal Rural Health Transformation Grants
Virginia has disbursed $122 million of $189 million in federal Rural Health Transformation Fund awards to community organizations, hospitals, and state agencies. Recipients will use funding to expand rural provider capacity, remote patient monitoring, medical residency slots, maternal care infrastructure, and Medicare-Medicaid integration services for dual-eligible populations. The grants come from a $10 billion annual federal pool created in last year's reconciliation legislation, available to states for five years. States must demonstrate meaningful use or risk federal clawback.
