Louisiana 6th District Candidates Split on Medicaid Work Requirements

At a candidates forum in Gonzales, Louisiana, hopefuls for the 6th Congressional District seat debated Medicaid policy alongside petrochemical regulation and immigration. Democratic candidates Pat Forbes and Lindsay Garcia called for restoring Medicaid funding cuts and ACA subsidies, with Forbes criticizing new work requirements set to take effect next year as overly burdensome for working Medicaid recipients in Louisiana. Republican candidates Monique Appeaning and Larry Davis instead emphasized combating Medicaid fraud rather than addressing coverage gaps.
