CommonSpirit Agrees to Sell Three North Dakota Hospitals to Altru
CommonSpirit Health signed a definitive agreement on Nov. 4 to transfer three North Dakota hospitals, CHI St. Alexius Health in Bismarck, Turtle Lake and Garrison, to Grand Forks-based Altru Health System. The deal follows a nonbinding letter of intent signed in January and Altru's March 1 acquisition of CHI St. Alexius Health Devils Lake. The transaction is expected to close in early 2027, with the Benedictine Sisters of Annunciation Monastery continuing to sponsor the hospitals and CHI St. Alexius maintaining its Catholic identity under Altru. Both parties say patient care and daily operations will not change during the transition.
