CMS Finalizes CY 2027 ESRD Prospective Payment System Rule
CMS finalized its Calendar Year 2027 update to the End-Stage Renal Disease Prospective Payment System, which sets Medicare payment rates and policies for dialysis facilities. The rule updates the ESRD PPS base rate and related payment adjustments that apply to outpatient dialysis treatments. Changes take effect January 1, 2027. While the policy is a Medicare payment rule, dialysis payment updates also affect dual-eligible beneficiaries and state Medicaid programs that coordinate payment with Medicare for ESRD patients.
