Addus CEO Links Personal Care Census Dip to Caregiver Hour Demands
Addus HomeCare reported a slight decline in personal care census in Q3, which CEO Dirk Allison attributed to caregivers increasingly wanting 40-hour work weeks, making lower-hour cases harder to staff. Addus is addressing this by expanding its Addus Connect caregiver app, which lets caregivers manage schedules and availability, from Illinois into Texas and soon New Mexico, and by being more selective about which patients it accepts while still serving lower-hour cases. The company's personal care segment brought in $301 million in Q3 revenue, up 9% year-over-year, while total net revenue reached $387.7 million, up 7%. Addus also discussed its pending roughly $275 million acquisition of AccentCare's personal care assets across 10 states, expected to close in Q1 2027, and said a Medicare home health enrollment moratorium has not affected its growth strategy since it does not rely on new-location, or de novo, expansion.
