Ensemble Expands Medicaid Coverage Advocacy Ahead of 2027 Rules

Ensemble Health Partners expanded its financial advocacy services nationwide to help health systems identify patients at risk of losing Medicaid coverage and guide eligible patients through enrollment before a Jan. 1, 2027, federal deadline. Starting that date, most adults covered through Medicaid expansion must renew eligibility every six months instead of annually and meet new work requirements. Ensemble said these changes raise the risk of coverage loss from missed notices, documentation problems and other administrative barriers. The company uses coverage discovery data and predictive analytics to flag patients, reaching them through patient portal messaging, text, email, a 50-state digital application portal, on-site staff and voice agents, including deadline reminders and educational materials on the new work requirements.

Why it mattersHealth systems and Medicaid managed care plans may see this as a tool to reduce avoidable coverage loss and self-pay volume as new renewal and work requirement rules take effect in 2027.
