Hartford Launches Coalition to Help Residents Keep HUSKY D Coverage
Hartford Mayor Arunan Arulampalam announced a new citywide coalition, the Hartford HUSKY D Response Coalition, to help residents navigate upcoming Medicaid work requirements. Starting Jan. 1, HUSKY D enrollees, Connecticut's Medicaid coverage for low-income adults without dependents, must prove they work at least 80 hours or earn $580 monthly, or complete community service or training, with exemptions including medical frailty. About 13,000 Hartford residents are affected. The coalition, including city agencies, health centers, employment groups and religious institutions, with United Way as project management lead, will help residents understand the changes, maintain eligibility documentation, and connect to job training and community service opportunities before the requirements take effect.
