Northern Light Health Reorganizes Maine Operations Into Three Regions

Northern Light Health, based in Brewer, Maine, is reorganizing its hospital operations and governance into three regions: North, Central and Southern Maine, a spokesperson confirmed to Becker's. Chief Marketing and Communication Officer Suzanne Spruce said the system is also expanding outpatient care, shifting toward "a model that prioritizes services around patients, as opposed to care centered around hospitals." Spruce said the plan aims to improve access and timeliness of care and supports financial sustainability amid rising costs and lower reimbursement nationwide. The reorganization follows restructuring plans the system announced more than a year ago, after which Northern Light Inland Hospital and its associated clinics in Waterville closed in May 2025.
