Intermountain Breaks Ground on $1.2B Nevada Children's Hospital
Intermountain Health broke ground October 26 on a $1.2 billion children's hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada's first standalone pediatric facility. The roughly 828,600-square-foot hospital will sit on a 33-acre campus with an initial 180-bed inpatient tower expandable to 228 beds, offering neonatal care, pediatric and cardiac intensive care, emergency and trauma services, oncology, bone marrow transplant, and behavioral health care. The project is funded in part by a $150 million gift from Ben and Felicia Horowitz, after whom the hospital will be named, and a $50 million commitment from Larry and Heidi Canarelli. The hospital is expected to open in 2030.
Why it mattersThe new facility will expand specialized pediatric capacity, including behavioral health and tertiary services, that could become a key referral point for children covered by Nevada Medicaid and CHIP who currently lack in-state access to standalone pediatric hospital care.
