Idaho Gets Second $186 Million Federal Rural Health Grant Round
Idaho will receive about $186 million in year two of the five-year federal Rural Health Transformation Program, matching its first-year award after the federal government determined funding levels based on first-year performance, according to a press release from Gov. Brad Little. The state distributed its entire first-year allocation to nearly 115 subgrantees ahead of an October 30 deadline, funding workforce development, rural hospital infrastructure, maternal and child health, substance use prevention, mobile dental and screening clinics, and emergency medical services upgrades. Examples include a $6.6 million award to Benewah Community Hospital for diagnostic equipment, $507,000 to Riggins Ambulance for a paramedic command vehicle, and mobile clinic grants to Mountain View Hospital and St. Luke's Health System. The funding originates from the $50 billion nationwide pool created under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act enacted in July 2025.
