SHVS Launches Tracker of State Medicaid Work Requirement Communications

State Health and Value Strategies (SHVS) has published an interactive map tracking how states are communicating with Medicaid enrollees about new work reporting requirements (WRR) under H.R. 1. As of October 12, 2026, all 42 states subject to WRR plus the District of Columbia have published at least one public-facing webpage on the changes: 27 have both a general H.R. 1 page and a dedicated WRR page, 10 have a WRR page only, and five states plus D.C. have only a general H.R. 1 page. The map also shows which states offer translated materials, pre-screening tools, and links to each state Medicaid agency's relevant webpages. Eight states not subject to WRR are marked separately. The map is updated periodically as states roll out new communications.

Why it mattersState Medicaid agencies, health plans, and advocates can use the tracker to benchmark their own enrollee outreach and pre-screening tools against peer states as work requirement implementation deadlines approach.
