UW Health Completes Acquisition of Wisconsin Hospital From Sanford

UW Health completed its acquisition of Marshfield Medical Center-Beaver Dam from Marshfield Clinic Health System, part of Sanford Health, on November 1. The campus is now UW Health Beaver Dam Hospital and Clinics, bringing about 350 employees into UW Health along with a hospital, skilled nursing facility, senior living apartments, assisted living facilities and primary care clinics in nearby Wisconsin communities. Patients will see little immediate change: insurance, billing and scheduled appointments remain the same, and patients will continue using the existing patient portal until a 2027 transition to UW Health MyChart. UW Health says the deal supports its broader strategy to expand access to rural and community care across Wisconsin.

Why it mattersHealth plans and Medicaid managed care organizations contracting in rural Wisconsin will need to track network and billing changes as the facility transitions ownership and systems over the coming months.
