Eight States Vote Nov. 3 on Medicaid, Abortion Ballot Measures
In its roundup of healthcare ballot measures, Becker's Hospital Review reports that voters in several states will decide Nov. 3 on measures touching Medicaid funding, clinic spending and abortion access. South Dakota's Amendment I would end Medicaid expansion if federal matching funds drop below 90%, affecting roughly 30,000 enrollees. California's Proposition 44 would require nonprofit safety-net clinics to spend 90% of revenue on healthcare services or pay penalties, while Proposition 40 would tax billionaires to fund healthcare, with 90% of proceeds directed to healthcare services including Medi-Cal. Colorado's Proposition 135 would bar Medicaid reimbursement for gender-affirming surgery on minors. Other measures in Missouri, Nevada, Virginia and Idaho address reproductive rights and, in Missouri's case, parental consent and gender-affirming care bans for minors.
