New Hampshire Allocates $11M Rural Health Funds to EMS Program

GO-NORTH, the office managing New Hampshire's Rural Health Transformation Program funding, announced an $11 million project to strengthen rural emergency medical services during a Concord press conference attended by HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. The funding will provide rural EMS and ambulance providers with new equipment, workforce training, and resource-sharing partnerships, and will expand mobile integrated health programs to five new sites including Concord and the North Country. The goal is to divert repeat patients who lack primary care away from overburdened emergency rooms and into out-of-hospital care. New Hampshire received $205 million through the program in late 2025 and expects similar annual amounts through 2030, contingent on federal performance reassessments; Kennedy offered strong public praise of the state's execution ahead of that rescoring.

Why it mattersState Medicaid and rural health agencies should note that continued federal funding under the program hinges on annual performance rescoring, making New Hampshire's distribution model and documented outcomes a potential template or cautionary benchmark for other states.
