Nonprofit's Triangle Housing Pilots Aim to Scale Across NC
North Carolina Health News reports that HOPE NC, a nonprofit focused on housing options for people with disabilities, has launched three supportive housing pilots in Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Raleigh site, Grosvenor Gardens, set aside 10 of 58 affordable units for this population through a partnership between CASA, Alliance Health (the regional entity managing Medicaid behavioral health and IDD services), and a local housing authority providing vouchers. Residents, many enrolled in Medicaid waiver programs that fund community-based services, receive support from an on-site community facilitator who helps with budgeting, employment and social activities. HOPE NC hopes the model, which relies on varied local partnerships rather than a single blueprint, can be replicated statewide as officials acknowledge housing gaps but cite limited resources.
