Celtics Owners Give Boston Children's Hospital Record $200M Gift
Boston Children's Hospital announced a donation of more than $200 million from the Boston Celtics ownership group and the team, the largest gift in the hospital's history, according to an Oct. 29 news release. The funds will support a new pediatric behavioral health campus in Brighton, research into childhood diseases, pediatric nurse training, family-centered programs and an innovation fund. The total includes a previously announced $100 million gift from Celtics co-owner Rob Hale and his wife Karen, disclosed in December 2025 for the behavioral health campus. The gift is philanthropic and not tied to any public funding program.
Why it mattersThe donation expands pediatric behavioral health capacity in Massachusetts, a resource area many Medicaid-enrolled children and families rely on amid statewide shortages.
