Midstream Health Raises $20M to Recover Hospital Margin

Midstream Health, an AI-driven financial operations platform for health systems, announced a $20 million Series A led by Valtruis with participation from Andreessen Horowitz, Foundry and CommonSpirit Ventures, bringing total funding to $29.2 million. The platform now serves a customer network representing more than $100 billion in annual operating expenses and over 250 hospitals, including new additions Fairview Health Services and Keck Medicine of USC alongside CommonSpirit Health, Mount Sinai and Houston Methodist. Midstream uses AI agents to reconcile contract, claims, supply chain, pharmacy and managed care data against live transactions to identify and recover unclaimed rebates and payer underpayments. The company says it has identified more than 1,500 recovery opportunities this year and is on pace for $100 million in client savings by the end of 2026.

Why it mattersHospitals and health systems facing thin margins, including those with significant Medicaid managed care payer mixes, gain a tool to recover underpayments and unenforced contract terms without new capital investment.
