Sentara, Aetna Expand Network Deal to Virginia Medicaid Plan

Sentara Health and Aetna have expanded their payer-provider partnership to include Aetna Better Health of Virginia Medicaid members, giving them in-network access to Sentara's full hospital, provider and care-site network across Hampton Roads, Southwest Virginia and Northern Virginia. The expanded agreement also covers Aetna Medicare Advantage members and takes effect January 1, 2027. Sentara was previously in-network only for Aetna commercial plan members. Sentara and Aetna executives framed the deal as closing coverage gaps and expanding provider choice for members in the affected regions.
