Carson Tahoe Health, UnitedHealthcare Restore Network Contract Nov. 1

Carson Tahoe Health and UnitedHealthcare have reached a new agreement restoring in-network access to the Nevada system's physicians, clinics and hospitals for UnitedHealthcare commercial and Medicare Advantage members, effective November 1. The deal ends a dispute that began in November 2023, when Carson Tahoe moved to terminate its contract over reimbursement, claims processing and prior authorization issues; the prior contract lapsed May 30, 2025. The restored access particularly benefits Medicare Advantage enrollees, since the effective date falls within Medicare's open enrollment period running through December 7. Carson Tahoe CEO Michelle Joy said the agreement restores choice for northern Nevada families affected by the 17-month network gap.

Why it mattersNorthern Nevada patients with employer-sponsored and Medicare Advantage coverage regain in-network access to a major regional health system just as Medicare open enrollment decisions are being made.
