TidalHealth Reports Widening Operating Loss for Fiscal 2026

TidalHealth, a three-hospital system based in Salisbury, Maryland, posted a $49.1 million operating loss (-3.8% margin) for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2026, deeper than the $33.9 million loss (-3.4% margin) a year earlier, per financial documents posted October 28. Operating revenue rose 31% to $1.3 billion, aided by $18.4 million in COVID-19-related FEMA grant payments that the system said may not recur, but expenses grew at a similar pace and uncollectible patient bills more than doubled to $42.6 million. Net income fell 77.8% to $18 million, largely because the prior year included a one-time $58.9 million gain from the Atlantic General Hospital acquisition. The system reported $366.1 million in long-term debt and $1.5 billion in total assets as of June 30.

Why it mattersRising uncollectible patient bills and a widening operating loss signal financial strain that could affect TidalHealth's capacity to sustain services and investments for Medicaid and uninsured patients in its region.
