Oracle Health Pitches AI-Native Data Strategy for Healthcare Systems

At the Oracle Health and Life Sciences Summit on Sept. 23, Oracle Health and Life Sciences EVP Seema Verma argued health systems need a unified data architecture before layering on AI tools, rather than bolting AI onto fragmented legacy systems. Oracle is deploying clinical AI agents for documentation, coding, nursing, discharge coordination and prior authorization, and is redesigning revenue cycle processes rather than automating broken workflows step by step. The company is also building interoperability infrastructure, including participation in CMS-aligned data networks, to streamline real-time data exchange between providers and payers. Separately, Oracle launched a life sciences data platform aggregating over 130 million anonymized records to support research and clinical trial matching, including enrollment tools embedded directly in EHRs.

Why it mattersHealth plans and providers relying on Oracle's EHR and interoperability infrastructure should watch how these AI and data initiatives could reshape claims exchange, prior authorization workflows, and administrative costs across payer-provider relationships.
